FCL-X is the answer to quickly and safely extinguishing Lithium Battery fires, with NO re-ignition! Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cells can breach due to internal thermal runaway or external fire incidents even at temperatures as low as 150°F. Without FCL-X Extinguishing Agent, excessive heat can result in the evaporation of the battery electrolyte, leading to overpressure within the Li-ion battery cell, which can cause the solvent and electrolyte to be expelled from the battery cells under pressure. The flash point of the electrolyte is so low that the electrolyte vapor in the spray can ignite simply due to friction of the expanding gas through the explosion-proof relief valve.

What Is It?

  FCL-X reduces toxic fluoride exposure by neutralizing harmful gases released during lithium-ion battery fires. It makes the environment safer for first responders by stabilizing the fire and preventing dangerous chemicals from spreading.

  FCL-X is a water-based proprietary solution that extinguishes and eliminates re-ignition of lithium-ion cells and/or batteries resulting in minimal cleanup after a li-ion fire.

  FCL-X buffers the lithium oxidation reaction to limit heat and hydrogen generation by forming non-hazardous salts, which stabilizes decomposing electrolytes.

  FCL-X is specifically designed to mitigate the complex chemical reactions caused by the fire by creating an armor for the surface of material containing elemental lithium.
